Senior Collection- A Country Boy from Congo
At the age of 29, my father immigrated to Texas from Congo as a political refugee. A Country Boy from Congo is an empowering collection that mixes black cowboy culture with Congolese culture, to show how as an immigrant you don’t have to assimilate—you can use your culture to weave your own story and create your own identity in a new place. While mixing traditional cowboy silhouettes with traditional Congolese silhouettes and fabrics, I’ve used these as a basis to create a collection to inspire people to embrace where they come from.
